New state law bans needles & syringes from household trash!
Effective September 1, 2008, sharps are banned from landfill disposal.
Residents may no longer place home-generated needles and syringes into the trash or recycling carts.
Residents do have other options which include free disposal at the any of the County of Orange Household Hazardous Waste Collection Centers (HHWCC). Rainbow Disposal hosts a HHWCC located at 17121 Nichols Street in Huntington Beach. The HHWCC is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It is closed on rainy days and major holidays.
